Meghan Markle marked International Women’s Day by sharing a touching moment with her daughter, Princess Lilibet, in a new photo taken by Prince Harry.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, posted the image on Instagram on Sunday, March 8. The photo shows Meghan and her 4-year-old daughter sitting together on a beach, sharing a quiet, affectionate moment by the water.
In the caption, Meghan reflected on the day’s meaning while dedicating the post to her daughter’s future. “For the woman she will one day be… Happy International Women’s Day,” she wrote.
She also revealed that the person behind the camera was her husband, Prince Harry, crediting the photo to “Papa Sussex,” a nickname she used for the Duke of Sussex.
International Women’s Day is celebrated each year on March 8 and highlights the social, cultural, economic, and political achievements of women around the world. Meghan has often used the occasion to share personal messages and moments from her family life.
Last year, in 2025, Meghan also posted a special tribute on social media. That post included a never-before-seen photo of Lilibet with Harry, who is now 41. The image appeared as part of a larger collection of photos celebrating important women in Meghan’s life and the people who support them.
“Happy International Women’s Day!” Meghan wrote at the time. “Celebrating the strong women around us & the girls with dreams who will become women with vision. Also thanking those who uplift us every day.”
The year before that, Meghan chose to mark the occasion by speaking at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. She appeared on a panel titled “Breaking Barriers, Shaping Narratives: How Women Lead On and Off the Screen,” alongside journalist Katie Couric, actress Brooke Shields, and author and sociologist Nancy Wang Yuen.
During that discussion, Meghan reflected on a well-known childhood story about challenging gender stereotypes in advertising. She recalled writing a letter to Procter & Gamble when she was young after seeing a dish soap commercial that suggested household chores were primarily a woman’s responsibility.
“I don’t think it’s right for kids to grow up thinking these things, that just mom does everything,” the then-11-year-old Meghan said during an interview with Nick News uncovered by Inside Edition.
Her letter reportedly helped lead to a change in the commercial’s wording, which was altered from “Women all over America are fighting greasy pots and pans” to “People all over America …”
During the SXSW panel, Meghan also spoke warmly about the support she receives from Prince Harry, particularly in their roles as parents. “I’m fortunate in that, among the privileges I have in my life, I have an incredible partner,” she said.
She continued by praising Harry’s role in their family life. “My husband is such a hands-on dad and such a supporter of me and my family. That I don’t take for granted. That is a real blessing.”
