Meghan Markle's half-sister brands Netflix series 'tragic comedy' for royals

Meghan Markle's half-sister has slammed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's Netflix documentary as a "tragic comedy" for the Royal Family.

Samantha Markle, 58, who has continually criticised her younger sister, tore into Meghan's account of her relationship with their grandmother.

The controversial six part series sees Meghan, 41, and her husband Prince Harry, 38, describe the lead up to, and the aftermath of, leaving their royal life and moving to California.

In one episode, Meghan told the cameras how she was "grateful" to have a "grandmother figure" after caring for her own grandmother near the end of her life.

Speaking to Tucker Carlson on Fox News, Samantha said Meghan's comments regarding their grandmother Doris May Rita Sanders, who they shared form Meghan's father's side, was the last straw.

She fumed: "The whole grandmother thing - that just did it for us. I think my grandmother would be rolling over in her grave if she saw that. [Meghan] didn't take care of her, she visited her."

Commenting further, Samantha claimed Meghan fabricated her relationship with her grandmother.

In the series, Meghan spoke of special moments she spent with Doris and said: "I was so, so, close with my grandmother and I took care of her in her final years."

Samantha, however, refuted the comments, telling Tucker: "She never made apple butter with her because my grandmother was making apple butter, like, in the 1970s before Meghan was even born. So, it's been so far-fetched.

"It's like a tragic comedy, especially sadly for our family and for the Royals."

Opening up on her relationship with Samantha on the documentary, Meghan said she hardly knew her, but had seen her all over the news following Meghan's royal status.

"I don't know your middle name, I don't know your birthday," Meghan said on the series. "You're telling these people that you raised me and that you've coined me 'Princess Pushy?

"I don't remember seeing her when I was a kid at my dad's house if, and when, they would come around."

She added the pair didn't have a fallout as Samantha had claimed, but only because "we didn't have a closeness to be able to have that".

Samantha released a book about Meghan in 2021 titled The Diary of Princess Pushy's Sister: A Memoir, Part One.

In it, she discussed the pair's upbringing and their apparent rivalry when their dad was wed to Meghan's mum, Doria Ragland.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Clarkson has been slammed by thousands of people after he said he "hates [Meghan] on a cellular level" and wants her to be "paraded naked through the streets".
