Meghan Markle's estranged father Thomas has paid tribute to the Queen following her death and says it is a "loss to the world".
His daughter is married to Prince Harry - one of the Queen's beloved grandchildren - but he never got to meet the monarch before her sad death yesterday at the age of 96. Mr Markle did not travel to the UK for Harry and Meghan's wedding in May 2018, which was attended by the Queen and her husband Prince Philip. However, he released a statement saying the Queen's death was the end of an era and that she will be "cherished in all of our memories."
He told Dailymail.com : "My heart goes out to the Royal Family and to the British people for their loss of the most-loved and admired Queen Elizabeth.
"Her service, grace and devotion signals the end of an era and she will always be cherished in our memories.
"Truly a loss to the world.' He added: 'In a way it feels like we've all lost a member of our family."
Mr Markle's son-in-law Harry raced to Balmoral yesterday without his wife after news filtered through of the Queen's failing health.
Today, he was pictured at Aberdeen Airport being comforted by a worker the morning after the death of his beloved grandmother, the Queen.
The empathetic member of ground staff could be seen talking to the Duke of Sussex in the moments before he boarded the plane to leave Scotland and his family.

He was seen putting a kind hand on her back as they chatted in what was clearly an emotional moment between the pair.

Yesterday afternoon an official statement from Buckingham Palace announced the Queen's death.
It read: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.
"The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."
