Meghan Markle's estranged family trio explain why she cut them off in explosive interview

Meghan Markle's estranged family have sat down for a tell-all interview and bashed the Duchess for 'cutting them off' during her relationship with Prince Harry.

The Duchesses estranged father Thomas Snr, her half-sister Samantha and half-brother Thomas Jnr sat down with Australia's 7NEWS Spotlight and lifted the lid on Meghan in an explosive chat. When asked by the journalist why they think Meghan cut ties with them, Samantha says it's because they aren't 'good enough' for royalty.

Meghan's half-sister Samantha told Australia's 7NEWS Spotlight programme: "What she told the royal family, what she told Harry wouldn’t have jived, wouldn’t have been consistent with the truth."

The Mirror reports that Meghan cut ties with her dads' side of the family in 2018 after it was revealed Thomas Snr had staged a slew of paparazzi photoshoots in the lead up to her wedding. During her wedding to Prince Harry, King Charles stepped up and walked Meghan down the aisle as her dad didn't attend the ceremony.

Thomas Snr, 78, who suffered a stroke last year, emotionally opened up about his relationship with his daughter as he hopes for reconciliation. "I wish that we could sit down and talk. I wish we could work out our differences," he said.

"She loved me. I’m her hero. And suddenly I was thrown out," Thomas continued.

Samantha slammed her half-sister and claimed that Meghan "would still be a waitress if it wasn't for dad", before branding the Duke and Duchesses relationship as "toxic".

"They are really unhealthy for each other," Samantha says in the interview, adding: "It’s a toxic relationship."

The trio released previously unseen family footage of Meghan and the rest of the family, in a bid to prove she used to have a close relationship with her dad. Among the treasured childhood videos that aired are ones of her playing baseball, weekends fishing at the lake, movie outings and dance lessons.

In one clip, Meghan appeared in a school play on the set that her dad had built. "Thank you for everything and I'll see you later, bye," a young Meghan says as she waves at the camera.

Prince Harry's comments about Meghan mourning the loss of her father are also addressed, with dad Thomas said: "She killed me and then mourned me."

Thomas Snr, Samantha and Thomas Jnr were also confronted by journalist Liam Bartlett, who claims they are just as bad as the Sussexes, as they have also made money from the falling out.

"Because you guys are family, you're so much alike," Liam said. "And Meghan really is just the carbon copy. What do you say to that proposition? I mean, in the sense that you're really as bad as each other?"

"Well, I throw a ball, you throw one back," Thomas Snr replied. The reporter continued: "I mean, she has made money at selling her story and you have made money sometimes selling your story-"

Interrupting, Thomas Snr retorted: "No offence, but she can afford a much bigger ball."

Thomas Snr also defended himself for leaking a private letter from Meghan to the Daily Mail. The father-of-three claimed the late Queen "never read the letter" and that it was "very insulting and cruel".

He added that Meghan had shared the letter with six other people, and he in turn sold it in a bid to get his side of the story out. He now says that he would "burn it" rather than sell the letter in its entirety.

Samantha slammed the claim that Harry and Meghan wanted privacy, and quipped: "Someone who wants privacy does not in a book talk about his todger."

Thomas Jr questioned who Meghan would have if she lost her mother Doria, who is one of the only members of her family she has maintained a close relationship with.

Samantha blamed Harry for how Meghan now behaves, saying the prince "avoids accountability" and that it's a "toxic relationship". She added that Meghan lacks "empathy, remorse or shame" and revealed she doesn't expect the actress to reach out unless she "has a motive".

Thomas Sr was much more empathetic and told both Harry and Meghan he loved them and was open to a reconciliation.
