Meghan Markle's absence at the Coronation will be a "big relief" to a key member of the royal family, an expert has revealed.
Buckingham Palace confirmed Prince Harry will attend King Charles' Coronation at Westminster Abbey on May 6 alone as the Duchess of Sussex will remain in Montecito, California, US, with their two children Archie and Lilibet.
And with Archie's birthday on the day of the ceremony the couple's close friend Omid Scobie revealed it "played a factor in the couple's decision" with the visit said to be a "fairly quick trip to the UK' for Harry as the Coronation will only be a couple of hours.
However, according to one royal observer, news of Prince Harry attending the ceremony alone will "please" Charles as it would have been "uncomfortable" for Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales.
And now a source has told MailOnline: "Charles will be pleased. The rest of the family will be relieved that Meghan won't be there - it would have been particularly uncomfortable for Kate."
Prince Harry's visit was confirmed today despite months of uncertainty which left royals unable to confirm key security, transport and seating issues.
The Duke and Duchess finally revealed their plans for the ceremony despite the RSVP deadline ending April 3.
A Buckingham Palace spokesman said in a statement: "Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that The Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May. The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet."
Archewell, Harry and Meghan's charitable foundation, then issued a statement just moments later confirming Prince Harry's attendance.
It said: "'The Duke of Sussex will attend the coronation service at Westminster Abbey on May 6th. The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet."
Prince Harry's alone visit to the Coronation it will put less pressure on the royals, according to ITV royal news editor Chris Ship.
He tweeted: "'Given everything that been said/alleged - in six Netflix episodes and one book - this is a big development.
"But Harry coming alone does mean less pressure on the royal family - and fewer of those awkward photographs together."
Harry's attendance comes after he decided to reveal unflattering information about the Royal Family in his best selling memoir 'Spare.'
There were allegations members of the royal family regularly gave the press unflattering information about other royals in exchange for better coverage of themselves.
In addition, he revealed fallouts with his brother the Duke of Cambridge and his dad which led to speculation he wouldn't attend.
And in January, Harry refused to confirm if he would attend the ceremony.
He revealed in one interview: "There's a lot that can happen between now and then. But the door is always open."
