Meghan Markle once reached out to Liz Hurley over her TV show The Royals, despite claiming that she later knew little about the Royal Family.
In a recently resurfaced 2015 blog post from Meghan Markle’s now discontinued site called The Tig, the Duchess of Sussex, now 41, interviewed the now 57-year-old actor about her stint on the show.
During the time of the interview, Liz had just begun appearing in the fictional comedy series, which imitated the British Royal Family.
Taking to her blog post, Meghan wrote at the time: “I have always loved everything about Liz Hurley, and when I realised she was going to be debuting on a new show, The Royals, I had to reach out to her.
However, viewers may remember that during Meghan’s 2021 landmark interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, she admitted that she didn’t know much about the family she married into before meeting Prince Harry.
She said during the interview: "It wasn't part of something that was part of conversation at home. It wasn't something that we followed.
"I didn't do any research. I'd never looked up my husband online – everything I needed to know, he was telling me,” she told the interviewer.
However, it is important to note that Liz’s character - who Meghan interviewed in the years before meeting her husband - was only loosely based on the late Princess Diana, and is an entirely fictional series.
The Mirror has contacted a representative of Meghan Markle and Liz Hurley for a comment on the matter.
Meghan’s discontinued blog was run between 2014 and 2017 by the former royal - who stepped down alongside husband Prince Harry in 2021 - during her time on the US series Suits.
The blog saw posts which addressed lifestyle and fashion topics, as well as interviews with celebrities like Serena Williams and Shameless’ Emmy Rossum.
