Meghan Markle makes it into Urban Dictionary and she's not happy, claims new book

Would you know what it meant if someone said they'd be 'Markled'? The phrase has entered the Urban Dictionary and the definition hasn't gone down well with Meghan Markle, according to a new book.

Urban Dictionary is a crowdsourced online dictionary for slang words and phrases. Contributors can write the slang definition for various words, including places or people's names on the online encyclopaedia, which is often visited by younger generations of internet users.

However, one of the latest additions to the dictionary has reportedly not gone down well with its namesake. The Duchess of Sussex was left upset after an unappealing definition of her name appeared, makes it into Urban Dictionary and she's not happy. Despite many of the website's 65 million monthly users often laughing at the millions of words and their definitions, the Duchess of Sussex was not impressed by the supposed slang meaning of her name, reported Gloucestershire Live.

In a new book published on Thursday, July 21, Tom Bower author of 'Revenge: Meghan and Harry and the War Between the Windsors', examines the rift between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the rest of the Royal Family. Bower claims that Meghan was frustrated with Palace officials for not protecting her image. He penned in his upcoming book: "Meghan seemed isolated, vulnerable and stifled by convention," reports The Mirror.

The book goes on: "Apparently unwilling to accept that, unlike Hollywood, no one was counting the box office receipts of the crowds she attracted, she was waging a struggle for which she was not suited. Scornful of the Palace's explanation that attacking the media would rebound on her, she adopted Hollywood's rulebook and took the initiative.

"No other member of the Royal Family had suffered as much embarrassment from their own family as Meghan. There was some equivalence in Meghan's contempt for her half-siblings, Samantha and Thomas, and now Harry's for Kate and William, in particular.

"The Cambridges, she believed, were failing to offer the recognition and generosity she deserved. She hated the comparisons with uncomplaining Kate.

"Effortlessly, the Cambridges appeared to be perfect. Meghan appeared to be influenced by envy of Kate. In turn, the future queen regarded her neighbour as dismissive.

"Kate, complained Meghan, did not have to live with the latest irritating revelation, such as Urban Dictionary's newly published definition of 'Being Meghan Markled': a 'verb for ghosting or disposing of people once you have no use or benefit from them anymore, without regard to genuine human relationship'.

Urban Dictionary definitions are often accompanied with an example of how to use the listed word or phrase in a sentence. Some of the examples given beneath the definition include: 'Do not Meghan Markle me when your movie comes out!' and 'She did a Meghan Markle on her friends as soon as she became famous'.

The definition went viral online following claims that, after joining the Royal Family, the Duchess of Sussex dropped a number of her old friends. Meghan was also accused of ditching some of her family members, too, including her 77-year-old dad Thomas Markle, who criticised The Firm in a series of interviews, and posed for staged paparazzi snaps.

Infamously, former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan appeared to become obsessive with topics pertaining to Meghan. The media personality claimed that, after forming a firm friendship with the Duchess, she 'ghosted' him.

In a scathing attack on the Duchess, Piers said: "As someone who has actually been Meghan Markled by Meghan Markle, I feel great empathy with anyone who gets Markled in life. There’s never any need for it.

"You should always at least have the basic good manners to tell someone why they are no longer of any use to you as you crawl ruthlessly up the social ladder."

It has been reported that Meghan has remained pals with some people from her past life as a Hollywood actress, including tennis star Serena Williams and make-up artist Daniel Martin. When the Urban Dictionary definition of Meghan's name went viral a while ago, some of her friends and fans defended her by pointing out that, despite Urban Dictionary being a popular website, anyone can post definitions, including trolls.
