The young mourner who has now been seen the world over after hugging Meghan Markle at Windsor on Saturday has said she initiated the moment of affection to make the Duchess of Sussex 'feel welcome.'
The sad death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II came weeks after Meghan, wife of Prince Harry, was in the news for her interview with US publication The Cut, in which alleged that she and Harry upset the Royal Family hierarchy just 'by existing,' adding that she was happy to quit Britain.
Those claims came after Meghan and Harry's much publicised interview with Oprah Winfrey last year, which made headlines across the world. And, over the last few years much has been made of the apparently 'strained relationship' between Harry and his brother William, the new Prince of Wales.

So it came as something of a surprise to crowds gathered outside Windsor Castle on Saturday afternoon when William and wife Kate, Princess of Wales, were joined by Harry and Meghan to look at some of the floral tribute left in memory of the brothers' late grandmother.

Speaking to CNN, the 14-year-old said: ""We were just waiting for her to come and she came near me and asked my name and how my day was, how long I was waiting.
"And I asked her if I could have a hug, and she hugged me back. It was quite an amazing moment. I'm still shaking now."
And then sharing the sweet reason for reaching out to Meghan, Amelka added: "It was quite nice to see William and Kate and Megan and Harry together... and it was fine, but I just wanted to show her that she's welcome here, I guess,
"And wanted to hug her after everything that's happened, really."
Late on Saturday night, hours after the Windsor walkabout, it was reported that Meghan had decided to cancel a TV appearance and put back the date of her next Podcast episode after King Charles III offered an olive branch during his first address to the nation as the new sovereign.
