Meghan Markle has made a telling comment that appears to hint at her unhappiness with her new Netflix docuseries with Prince Harry.
In a brand new explosive interview, Meghan broke her silence on the docuseries she has been working on with Harry as part of their multi-million dollar deal with the streaming giant. It is believed that the series will air later this year following the release of the fifth season of The Crown and will tell the couple's love story. However, when asked in her recent interview what viewers can expect from the series, which is being directed by celebrated director Liz Garbus, Meghan gave a cryptic comment about it not being "the way we would have told it".
She told Variety magazine : "It’s nice to be able to trust someone with our story — a seasoned director whose work I’ve long admired — even if it means it may not be the way we would have told it. But that’s not why we’re telling it.
"We’re trusting our story to someone else, and that means it will go through their lens."
She added: "It's interesting. My husband has never worked in this industry before.
"For me, having worked on Suits, it's so amazing to be around so much creative energy and to see how people work together and share their own points of view. That's been really fun."
Meghan's comments come as the docuseries, which tells the "love story" of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, reportedly left some producers "confused during filming".
One industry insider said the couple were making "contradicting" statements when compared to the contents of Harry's book, Page Six reports.
The memoir, yet to be given an official release date after the Queen's death, has been the source of much speculation in recent months, with Palace aides reportedly nervous about it.
A Netflix source said: "A lot in the show contradicted what Harry has written, so that was an issue.
"Then Harry and Meghan made significant requests to walk back content they themselves have provided, for their own project."
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the interview, appeared to make a fresh dig at the Royal Family with a remark about "expectations" for the future of her children Archie and Lilibet.
In a wide-ranging new interview, Meghan opened up about several topics including her podcast Archetypes, the death of the Queen and if she would ever return to acting.
But when she's asked about if she would encourage Archie and Lilibet if they wanted a career in the entertainment industry, she gave a cryptic comment about tradition and family expectations.
She said that if either child told her of their aspirations to work in entertainment, she would say: "'Great!’", and added: "When you become a parent, you genuinely want your kids to find the things that bring them complete joy."
But she continued: "They’re our kids, obviously, and they’re part of a legacy and a tradition and a family that will have other expectations.
But I want them to be able to carve out their own path. If it’s the entertainment industry, great. And also, good luck.
"There are so many people that will talk about what opened the door for my children. But it still takes talent and a lot of grit. We’re creating multi-dimensional, interesting, kind, creative people. That's who our kids are."
Elsewhere in the interview, Meghan opened up about the Queen's death for the first time, admitting it was a "complicated time" for the family, while also sharing Harry's emotional remark about his grandmother's death.
She explained: "I feel deep gratitude to have been able to spend time with her and get to know her. It’s been a complicated time, but my husband, ever the optimist, said, ‘Now she’s reunited with her husband'.
"I've reflected on that first official engagement that I had with her, how special that felt. I feel fortunate. And I continue to be proud to have had a nice warmth with the matriarch of the family."
