Meghan Markle 'fixed' Prince Harry and repaired his heart following his mother's death, Prince Diana's former butler claims.
The Duke of Sussex is "totally besotted" with his wife after she helped put him back on the right path, Paul Burrell says.
Diana's close ally and confidant for ten years says Harry and Meghan's relationship should be celebrated. But he predicts that at some point Harry will return to the UK as his family are too important to him.
He told OK! Magazine that he isn't sure things are going exactly the way Harry planned and admits he has changed his mind after being "thrilled" by their early romance.
“I thought that Meghan was this breath of fresh air who would modernise the royal family and bring all the vital elements that were missing, but what kind of love is this?" he said.
"I feel that, from her body language at the recent polo match, she came across as smothering.
“I think Harry is totally besotted with her. He’s given everything up. Of all the people I want to be happy, it’s Harry.”
Meghan has helped Harry heal following Diana's tragic death in Paris in 1997, the family's former butler believes.
Their union has gone a long way to to help him deal with the torment 25 years on.
“I think people have missed the fact he married a 36-year-old woman,"
"That is very significant because his mother was 36 when she died. I think he was looking for someone mature to guide him. He wasn’t looking for a fling.
"I think he was looking for someone serious to put him back on the path he’d lost because his mother died. His heart broke and nobody could fix it until Meghan came along. Meghan fixed it.”
But is Meghan concerned Harry may want to return home sooner rather than later?
Royal author Howard Hodgson claims that Meghan does not want to repair the rift completely.
"I don’t think Meghan wants it to be repaired, because if it was repaired, that might get Harry wanting to come back and play his role," he told The Sun.
"In a way, Prince Charles doesn’t want any focus going in that direction, he wants a straight-line focus on him, William, George.
“Nobody wants a repeat of what happened at the rather extraordinary Commonwealth Day, with the Cambridges and Sussexes actually looking hostile to each other.
"Anything like that is not going to happen now. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are special gestures to make them feel welcome.”
