Meghan Markle fans outraged at offensive Saturday Night Live Coronation joke

Meghan Markle's fans were left disgusted after an offensive Saturday Night Live joke poked fun at her attendance at the Coronation.

The sketch saw comedian Michael Che take aim at the Duchess Of Sussex as he made a crass joke about the speculation surrounding Meghan and her husband Prince Harry attending King Charles' coronation.

He joked that Meghan has been offered "$19 an hour" to attend King Charles III coronation as a mocked up image of her dressed in a maids outfit was shown behind him.

In the segment, Michael said: "It was reported that the organisers of King Charles' Coronation have officially invited Meghan Markle.

"And this is nice: at a starting salary of $19-an-hour."

While the studio audience appeared to see the funny side, viewers at home were not so easily impressed and took to Twitter to complain about the cruel and "offensive" sketch.

One furious viewer wrote: "Notice how Michael Che is not funny and he never has been? Especially tonight with his trashy cheap shot 'Meghan' joke - not funny - just getting used to insult a black women. Apologize & retract. But it’s unforgivable. It’s not even funny! Just rude."

A second scathed: "Misogynist uggo Michael Che thinking misogyny is edgy. Bet in private he says s**t like 'why cant men have a day dedicated to them??'"

A third remarked: "Did the writers take the week off? This episode is horrible."

A fourth social media user tweeted: "WTF...you loons just can't keep Meghan Markle's name out of your mouth. It's sick."

The Saturday Night Live feature is the latest in a long line of sketches to take aim at Meghan and Prince Harry in recent weeks.

Iconic animated series South Park created an episode where a fictional Canadian prince and princess embarked upon a "worldwide privacy tour" while making countless TV appearances and shouting through megaphones.

At the time a spokesperson for the couple called the episode "boring and baseless" following reports that the Sussexes were "upset and overwhelmed" by the cartoon.

Chris Rock also took his opportunity to criticise the couple in his Netflix special.

He launched a tirade about Meghan citing her claims of falling victim to racism.

He said: "It’s the Royal Family. You didn’t Google these motherf****rs? What the f**k is she talking about, 'She didn’t know?'

"That’s like marrying into the Budweiser family and going, 'They drink a lot'."

Harry and Meghan are yet to confirm if they plan to attend King Charles' Coronation on May 6, however, a spokesperson has confirmed they have been sent an invitation to the prestigious historical event.
