Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are "far more popular in America" because they are seen as a "modern couple", according to one royal author.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have seen their popularity in the US soar as they've become involved "in issues that really matter".
Meghan is well-known for her charity work and is set to receive the 2023 Woman Of Vision award for "her global advocacy to empower and advocate on behalf of women and girls".
The couple also recently met with some Californian students to discuss ways in which they can tackle feelings of insecurity and peer-pressure among young people.
Clive Irving, author of The Last Queen, believes it's this charitable work which has cemented the couple's popularity.
"Harry and Meghan are far more popular in America because they are a very modern couple and they deal with modern issues.
"Both of them are involved in issues that really matter but Harry in particular pays a lot of attention to the care of former military people that have suffered from various stresses," he said.
Speaking to the Express, Clive said Harry and Meghan are popular in America because "Americans have come to see the monarchy much more like Harry and Meghan than Charles and Camilla."
New data has suggested Americans are showing their support for the Sussexes in large numbers.
Newsweek surveyed 1,500 US registered voters last month, with 39 percent responding that they viewed Harry favourably.
This is an 18-point improvement on figures published in February.
Meghan has seen a similar rise in her popularity, with 33 percent of respondents in April saying they viewed the actress favourably against 39 percent who viewed her unfavourably.
Meghan will receive an award from Gloria Steinem in New York this evening.
The Ms Foundation's Women of Vision Award recognises those who have had a positive impact in their respective fields.
