Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may miss out on seeing the Queen when they soon visit the UK because of issues with security, reports say.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will return to the UK on September 5 after booking a number of engagements across the country.
This will include a global youth event at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, as well as an award ceremony for seriously ill children and young people in London.
But a quick stop to see Her Majesty in Balmoral Castle now reportedly looks unlikely.
With the Sussexes trip just days away there is little time for necessary security arrangements to be decided, reports the Telegraph.
Though the couple enjoyed royal protection while attending official engagements for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee back in June, Meghan and Harry are understood to have stayed within the grounds of Frogmore Cottage the rest of the time as they did not have it for other activities.
Such security is provided by the Metropolitan Police, and is decided on a case-by-case basis by a panel at the Home Office.
A legal row broke out between Harry and the government department this year after it refused to allow him to pay the force for his own protection while visiting the UK.
In an appeal for judicial review, he and his team argued that his US-based entourage do not have sufficient jurisdiction in Britain to be able to protect him properly.
They further argued hiring police officers during the duration of his trips would come at no cost to the taxpayer.
The Queen has been resting up at Balmoral after experiencing further issues with her mobility, and is expected to swear in the next Prime Minister there instead of Buckingham Palace next month in a sharp break with tradition.
She was last seen publicly on July 21 when she arrived at Aberdeen airport as part of her annual summer holiday to the residency in Aberdeenshire, where she traditionally stays between July and October.
