Meghan Markle was able to have one relatively 'normal' night out with Prince Harry before their relationship went public.
And the new couple were joined by Harry's cousin Princess Eugenie and future husband Jack Brookshank.
The actress revealed the lengths the group were forced to go to in order to stay incognito as she spoke to talk show host Ellen Degeneres - but luck was with them as it was Halloween.
In 2016, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had been dating for four months and were desperately in love.
Their pairing was still not out in the open, so a lot of their early dates were in private eateries or at home.
As they grew more confidant in their relationship, they started to venture out more, and one night in particular they were keen to let their hair down like other people.
Meghan recalled that one night when her royal other half's cousin was visiting them in her hometown of Toronto, they came up with a plan.
It was Halloween and they wanted to celebrate in style, so they hit Soho House in Toronto in disguise.
Meghan told Ellen said: "He came to see me in Toronto and our friends and his cousin Eugenie and now her husband Jack, they came as well.
"And the four of us snuck out in Halloween costumes to just have one fun night on the town before it was out in the world that we were a couple."
Ellen said: "So you went with Harry to a Halloween party and they had no idea it was the two of you?"
Meghan confirmed this, saying: "It was a post-apocalypse theme, so we had all this very bizarre costuming on, and we were able to just have one fun final night out."
During the night, Harry received a phone call that would change his and Meghan's life forever.
In an unauthorized biography, Finding Freedom, authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, the authors said the pair were having the "perfect night out" - "until they received a call from one of Harry's aides at Kensington Palace. It wasn't good news."
The couple were informed the press knew they were together and would be telling the world the next day.
So, the Halloween party was the last opportunity that Meghan and Harry would be able to celebrate their relationship privately.
It appears Eugenie has remained close to Prince Harry following his and Meghan's choice to stand down from the royal family.
The cousins were seen together at the Super Bowl in the US last week.
The royal pair were pictured together in the stands - although were without Meghan and Eugenie's husband Jack.
According to royal expert and biographer Duncan Larcombe, Eugenie publicly supporting Harry at the Super Bowl shows she is "breaking ranks" from the rest of the royals.
He told OK!: "The royals have stayed quite consistent and firm when it comes to Harry and Meghan, as we’ve seen.
"Eugenie is breaking ranks from the rest of the royals by being seen so publicly to endorse Harry and Meghan in their new life. It endorses what they said about the royals.
"There are those that think that Eugenie is Harry’s only hope of him being brought back in should things not work out in paradise, so at least he is talking to someone in the Royal Family. By seeing Eugenie there, it looks like the only link he still has with his family."
