The Duchess of Sussex hit the red carpet at a glitzy media event in Beverly Hills on Wednesday night while Prince Harry was on a solo trip to New York.

Meghan took to the red carpet at the The Paley Center for Media Gala at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel to cheer on this year’s honouree, Tyler Perry, on Wednesday.

The 43-year-old wore a strapless black Oscar de la Renta dress, a diamond Logan Hollowell necklace, and Celine heels at the star-studded event.

Perry, 55, a director, actor and philanthropist was the recipient of the Paley Honors Award at the soirée.

The Duchess of Sussex and her husband have a close friendship with the billionaire filmmaker, who is the godfather of their three-year-old daughter, Lilibet.

But husband Harry was not there to also cheer on Perry, as he was attending the 2024 New York Times DealBook Summit in New York.

Speaking to Andrew Sorkin at the event, the Duke said he had no plans to return to the UK, citing security concerns and fears of a loss of privacy for his children.

Asked if he wanted to remain in the United States, he said: "I very much enjoy living here and bringing my kids up here."

The duke then added that his American life, free of royal responsibilities, feels "as though it's the life my mum wanted" for him.

He added that he, Meghan, and their two children Archie and Lilibet are afforded a level of privacy in the US, and that they had more security.

Harry took legal action against the British Home Office over the February 2020 decision that he should receive a different degree of taxpayer-funded protection when in the country.

The decision led the duke to fight for it to be restored in a series of court proceedings, with the High Court rejecting his case in February.

In a judgment in February, retired High Court judge Sir Peter Lane rejected the duke's case the decision was not irrational nor procedurally unfair.

The duke's initial bid to bring an appeal was refused after he lost a High Court challenge over the decision, but he can now take his case directly to the Court of Appeal.

Separately, the Duchess of Sussex earlier this week sent a message of support to guests at a charity's carol concert in central London, wishing attendees a Merry Christmas "from my family to yours".

Meghan's remarks were shared in the programme for UK charity Smart Works' carol service at St Marylebone Parish Church on Tuesday.

Smart Works helps unemployed women with clothing and coaching to secure employment, and the duchess has been a patron of the charity since 2019.

According to an image of the programme shared by People magazine, Meghan said: "Together we gather to honour the work and dedication of this remarkable organisation, which continues to empower women across the UK through coaching, dressing and instilling confidence on their journey to employment.

"Thank you for giving your support by being here in St Marylebone Parish Church, under the beautiful haze of Christmas wreaths and candlelight."
