WHO knew that Meghan Gallacher had all the answers to get boost Scotland’s economy?
She’s only one of three candidates left in the race to replace Douglas Ross, but has raised eyebrows with her latest suggestion.
During an appearance on a podcast, Gallacher suggested Scotland should sell more square sausage to the rest of the UK to help the economy.
In an interview with Bernard Ponsonby and Alex Massie, the MSP appeared to make a joke about selling square sausage, although seemed to deliver the comments in quite a serious tone.
She said: “I would actually like to see better trading happening right across the UK to get the Scottish economy moving better.
“I think we should have – if I can just use a simple joke to throw out about square sausage – I think square sausage should be a market that we should have right across the country in order to empower the Scottish economy as a whole.”
Even Tory insiders were left a little confused with one source telling The Scottish Sun: “Meghan’s (below) sausage comments were a bit odd.
“Ponsonby and Massie looked stunned. She suggested it was a joke – then delivered the comments in a serious manner.”
Don’t get things wrong, The Jouker is a big fan of a square sausage roll… but whether or not it’s the key to boosting our economy is another matter.
