Meg Ryan looked glamourous as she put in a rare public appearance at the 29th annual Critics Choice Awards.
The 62-year-old actress and director smiled for cameras as she hit the red carpet for the prestigious event in Los Angeles on Sunday in a strapless black sequinned Saint Laurent gown, donning her signature short blonde bob and a simple makeup look.
She later took to the stage to present an award alongside actor David Duchovny.The Connecticut-born star is best known for playing the leading lady in a number of rom-coms released in the 1990s, such as Sleepless In Seattle, City of Angels and You’ve Got Mail.
After appearing in her 2015 directorial debut, Ithaca, she took a step back from spotlight to focus on her family.
She is set to make her return to the big screen alongside Duchovny in upcoming rom-com What Happens Later, which she has also directed and co-written.
Opening up on her decision to step back, Ryan said: "I took a giant break because I felt like there's just so many other parts of my experience as a human being I wanted to develop.
"It's nice to think of it as a job and not a lifestyle. And that is a great way of navigating it for me," she added to People.Ryan shares actor son Jack Quaid with ex-husband Dennis Quaid. The former couple tied the knot on February 14, 1991 but announced their separation in June 2000. Their divorce was finalised in July 2001.
In January 2006, Ryan adopted a 14-month-old girl from China, who she named Daisy True.
