Most of us who enjoy video games don't hear much of the Geordie accent when we play them, unless we're shouting at the PlayStation ourselves.
In fact, for a lot of people our region's gaming representation is the Longstaff brothers and Mark Gillespie on FIFA and Football Manager. However, North East players of a new cross-platform release will have a reminder of home every time they start up their games console - as Sega's Two Point Campus has its very own Geordie radio presenter.
Two Point Campus, a university management sim where players build their dream academic establishment, was released on August 9 on PlayStation, Xbox and PC. And Dan Pye, who is the voice donor for County Durham comedian Lost Voice Guy, plays a number of the male characters in the game, including DJ Shorts, who has a thick Geordie accent.

Voiceover artist Dan, who also voices in-store messages for supermarket Asda, said: "A Geordie character is a huge rarity, particularly in a game which has AAA status. One of the reads I sent through was a Geordie character and they went with it - I'm not entirely sure on the reason why, but I was given a lot of autonomy to make the decision on how the character should sound!
"I think it's brilliant to have a Geordie character as we are underrepresented in things like video games. I know there are a lot of Geordies on the TV, but not so many in games."
And there are more characters to come in the future. Dan is voicing all the male characters in a point and click adventure game set in Newcastle called Home: A Story of Light, though that's not due out until next year, at the earliest.
It may be rare for Geordie characters to appear in video games but it's not completely unheard of. Archers in 2001 game Stronghold, while Lara Croft bumped into a faceless immortal Geordie after falling through a chute in London in Tomb Raider 3 in 1999.
Before that, a drunk Toon fan had a life-saving cameo in Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars in 1996. And it's not just Geordie characters - the North East's stunning landscapes have featured in some big games including Hadrian's Wall in Assassin's Creed Valhalla in 2020 and the centre of Newcastle in arcade racers Test Drive 5 and 6 in 1998 and 99.
