Newcastle United have shaken up their boardroom with appointment of two new directors and one significant exit at St James' Park. Companies House documents show Abdulmajid Al-Hagbani and Asmaa Rezeeq, both of whom have ties to Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), were added to the club's hierarchy on February 23.
The duo arrive as former director Majed Al Sorour vacates his position at Newcastle after only a matter of months. The Saudi businessman has also been replaced in his role as CEO of Saudi Golf in recent weeks.
Al Sorour was hired by Newcastle in May 2022 due to his close ties to Newcastle chairman and PIF supremo Yasir Al-Rumayyan. The Saudi chief was seen at St James' Park on multiple occasions but left his role on Tyneside back in December.

Writing on LinkedIn in recent weeks, Al Sorour said: "The most exciting is to watch your own kids grow and become their own persons, as well as companies that are been founded and created.
"I am happy where Golf Saudi and LIV golf is at. I am still an effected board member and happy to continue to be." To which Newcastle co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi replied: "Onwards and upwards."
Newcastle have wasted no time restocking the boardroom, adding two key figures to their ranks last month. Al-Hagbani is currently a senior director at PIF and the current head of MENA (Middle East & North Africa) Securities Investments at the wealth fund.
Al-Hagbani has also worked at HSBC in Saudi Arabia and will replace Al Sorour on the board as a non-executive director.
Rezeeq is another with close ties to PIF having worked for the investment fund since 2018. She is tasked with 'exploring global private equity and alternative investments' and is said to have studied at London Business School as recently as 2022. She previously attended Stanford University in the United States.
Newcastle have made a wealth of appointments behind the scenes in recent months as the club look to cover all bases behind the scenes. Amanda Staveley, Ghodoussi and Jamie Reuben remain as minority co-owners, while Peter Silverstone, Darren Eales and Dan Ashworth have all been appointed in the last 12 months as Chief Commercial Officer, Chief Executive Officer and Sporting Director.
Speaking this weekend after Newcastle lost the Carabao Cup final, Staveley told talkSPORT: "We will win the Carabao Cup, we will win the FA Cup, we will win the Champions League and we will win the Premier League.
“This is all about the amazing fans that have taken us on this journey, and we're just honoured and humbled and feel very privileged to help run Newcastle United. We don't really deserve the support we have I always feel.
“As owners, we're very humbled by what's happened today. I know Yasir [Al-Rumayyan, club chairman] has been here with me, we're just so excited that we got to come.”
