Reece Prescod isn’t fazed by critics. The former Team GB sprinter’s story reads like a blueprint for track success. After rising through national championships at junior level, he represented Great Britain at the Tokyo Olympic games in 2021 and became the fifth fastest British person ever over 100m.
“Sometimes you think, ‘Should’ve, would’ve, could’ve,’ and wonder about an Olympic medal,” he says. “But if my best was 9.93 seconds, I was never going to be competing for those podium spots.” When Prescod retired in August last year, aged 29 and with a silver European championship medal under his belt, he could look back on a successful running career. Then his story took an unexpected turn.
