TikTokers have been raving about a Dublin lad who gets paid to do crazy dares in the city centre.
John Sharkey has been accepting money from randomers on the street, either cash or Revolut payments to provide his viewers the most cringeworthy dares imaginable.
The young Irish man makes it his mission to never do anything illegal or harm anyone but the orders he gets from people on the streets are enough to damage his reputation.
He told Dublin Live: “Most people know the limits of what they can ask me to do but I’ve come across a few boundary pushers.
“For example I met a few people who wanted me to punch a lad in the face, rob a shop and vandalise property - all of whom I politely declined.
“I’ve never got in trouble for anything because I never harm anyone. I always apologise or say thank you afterwards.
"It’s not about what you do, it's all about how. When you’re a positive person just trying to have the craic, usually people are laid back.”
Mr Sharkey has screamed "Suuuii" (the classic Ronaldo phrase) into a buskers microphone on Henry Street, purposely fell on the ground in front of someone and has gone into Gino’s to go up to an employee to give them a kiss.
The scene maker seems to do anything to embarrass himself for money but it’s all a bit of fun.
John said: “I make comedy sketches of Irish phrases taken literally, for example, throw me on the kettle and then someone would actually throw me on the kettle.
“I don’t know where I get my comedy ideas from. They just come to me in day to day life talking to people.
“To be honest, you might not think it but creating short-form half interesting, somewhat funny videos on the daily is a challenge in itself. There’s a process for every video, you have to come up with the idea, plan, film, edit post. Then you have to reply to comments and go live to promote the video.”
John, the daredevil of Dublin, doesn’t care what people think because at the end of the day, it’s all a bit of fun.
He continued: “People in general and even my family when I tell them what I do with my spare time, think I’m weird and possibly mad in the head, but sure look you can’t please everyone I suppose.
“For the most part doing public dares is great, apart from the rejections when you ask a random person going about their day to help you make a TikTok.”
