A three-year-old who still has to stand on a chair to reach the chessboard has already achieved something most players spend years chasing. Sarwagya Singh Kushwaha, from Sagar in Madhya Pradesh, has earned an official FIDE rating at an age when most children are only beginning to discover the alphabet, as per a report by The Guardian and Chess.com.
His first rapid rating was 1,572, putting him above the minimum performance required for an initial FIDE rating. Even more striking, he reached the milestone after taking on players many times his age.
