Meet Miguel Gurwitz, the Mexican in Charge of 'Thursday Night Football' in Spanish - INTERVIEW

In Spanish

When it comes to the top commentators and experts in Mexican soccer, one of the first names that comes up is Miguel Gurwitz. Throughout his career, he's covered a wide range of sports, from World Cups to Olympics and numerous finals.

One of his career goals was always to excel as a sports commentator, but he never imagined he'd one day be one of the voices for 'Thursday Night Football' in Spanish.

However, Gurwitz is not new to American football—he's been a longtime fan and has even covered Super Bowls. What excites him is being part of a streaming platform.

Thursday Night Football in Spanish

"I think Prime Video has changed the game. Thursday night games were already a thing, but the way Prime Video approached it is different," he said in an interview with ENSTARZ ¡Latino!

He started by praising the team, both in English and Spanish. He is particularly thrilled to work with his good friend and talented chef, Rolando Cantú.

Gurwitz talks with childlike excitement about the technology enhancing the experience, from graphics to instant stats that help engage the audience. "All this provides fans with data in a more digestible way, making it more enjoyable for them," he notes.

"We're not just telling people to come to watch a football game every Thursday. I'm offering a four-hour experience to keep them entertained," he said.

For this position, Prime Video couldn't have chosen a better fit. Gurwitz loves American football so much that even his son plays the sport. He also admires NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's efforts, not only to make the sport safer for players but to take it to an international level.

Recently, the NFL held a game in Brazil, with Anitta performing at halftime. Games are also played in Mexico, Germany, and England, and plans are to expand further.

"We'll see it in Spain next year. And don't doubt that we'll see it in Australia. There are players in the league from Oceania. It's incredible. The talent Africa brings to the NFL is amazing. They've done a brilliant job making this a global sport," he added.

Streaming the sport worldwide is another way it's becoming global. Fans can tune in every Thursday on Prime Video. Here's the schedule to catch the talents of Miguel Gurwitz and Rolando Cantú.

To learn more about him, here's the full interview. It's not only informative but a fun time as well.
