NEW DELHI: World number two Daniil Medvedev suffered a shock exit from the French Open in the first round, losing in a five-set battle against 172nd-ranked Thiago Seyboth Wild of Brazil.
Wild, who advanced through the qualifiers and had never won a Grand Slam match before, emerged victorious with a score of 7-6 (7/5), 6-7 (6/8), 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 in Paris.
