Meat Loaf's awkward Katie Price blunder, Mr Blobby feud and Spice Girls mix-up

The music world has been left bereft with the news the legendary Meat Loaf has died.

The Bat out of Hell singer was 74 and had his wife Deborah by his side as he passed, with no official cause of death yet named.

But Meal Loaf, whose real name was Marvin Lee Aday, did suffer from multiple health issues in his life - some of which affected his performances.

He collapsed on-stage several times, once breaking his leg and another time his collarbone.

His multiple health scares might have been the reason some people - including Katie Price - mistakenly thought he was dead.

In 2016, they both appeared on the billing for Loose Women, when Katie admitted she had suspected the worst when she saw his recent collapse.

"It wasn’t that long ago, it was a few weeks ago that I saw a clip where you collapsed on stage and I was mortified," she said.

"I thought, 'Oh my god what’s happened, has he died or something?'

"And then they said you were on the show today and I thought, 'Oh thank god', because I never heard anything.

"So it’s good that you are still here because it looked pretty horrific," she added, as the singer laughed awkwardly.

It wouldn't be his only tense moment with a major celebrity - Meat also took on Mr Blobby in 1993.

It wasn't a physical fight - only a contest for a number one hit in 1993 when the kid's TV character knocked him off the coveted spot in the charts.

Mr Blobby's self-titled song toppled I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That), much to the outrage of his fans.

But it's clear who was the real musical winner - Meat Loaf sold more than 100million albums worldwide, while Mr Blobby's tune has been labelled 'the worst song ever recorded'.

As well as selling millions of records worldwide, Meat Loaf also made cameos in a number of films - including Spice World.

He played a bus driver named Dennis in the 1997 flick, and hilariously managed to incorporate the title of one of his songs into a one-liner.

He is discussing the broken down toilets in the girl band's tour bus, and is asked to "fix them" - meaning the toilets, but he misunderstands and thinks he is being asked to "fix" the Spice Girls so they didn't need to use the loo any more.

"Hey man, I love these girls, and I'd do anything for them. But I won't do that," he responds.

It was far from his only comedy role - Meat Loaf also joined Leigh Francis as Avid Merron on Bo Selecta! back in 2003.

The hilarious duo sang together as Meat admitted he was "trying to get laid".

Despite the song becoming a silly ditty about selling Dannii Minogue's underwear - Meat's incredible vocals shone through as he belted out some killer notes.

Leigh later revealed it was a "career highlight" to sing with the legendary star.

His acting credits didn't stop there - Meat Loaf also starred in numerous blockbuster films including The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Focus and Beautiful Boy.

In 1999, he appeared in Fight Club which also featured Edward Norton, Brad Pitt and Helena Bonham Carter.

He played Robert 'Bob' Paulson, a former body builder who gets testicular cancer due to his reliance on steroids.

But the rocker also helped to direct the film, helping David Fincher to pick which take was best.

"I hardly spent any time in my trailer for almost ten months, I sat next to David the entire time," he told The AV Club in 2016.

"It got to the point, about four or five months into filming, that we’d break for lunch, and Fincher would call me into his trailer and say, 'I want you to help me pick which one I should use.'

"Of course, in my head I’m going, 'What?'"

"The first time he did that, I said, 'I can’t do that,' and he goes, 'Yeah, you can. You’ve been sitting next to me, so help me pick out the best one.'"
