Meat Loaf has died at his home in the United States at the age of 74, a statement on his official Facebook Page confirmed this morning.
Born Marvin Lee Aday, Meat Loaf went on to become one of the most beloved rock stars of his generation selling over 100 million records as well as winning a Grammy.
But it wasn't always like that.
By the late 80s, like many musicians, Meat Loaf was at a crossroads in his career.
He had released the not-so-successful Blind Before I Stop album which was widely panned by both critics and fans alike.
While the mainstream may have lost faith in Meat Loaf, he still had hardcore fans dotted throughout Ireland.
Because of this, Meat Loaf toured smaller music venues and community halls across Irish towns and villages in 1989
While this was meant to be a low key tour for Meat Loaf, word soon spread throughout the country and suddenly these small venues were full up and then some.
After just a few shows, Meat Loaf was close to quitting the tour due to the crowd.
"Please guys, can you move back a couple of steps?" Meat Loaf pleaded. Unsurprisingly no one listened.
At another gig, in Moate, Co Westmeath according to loudersound.com, Meatloaf shouted at the crowd "Stop f**king throwing things!"
Eventually, he had enough and stormed off stage.
He reluctantly returned but warned the rowdy fans that he would "walk out the f**king door" if they didn't calm down.
Also that year, Meat Loaf performed at the National Stadium on the South Circular Road.
His setlist from that concert contains nine songs with five of them coming the iconic "Bat Out Of Hell" album.
