Meat Loaf admitted he'd lost ability to sing months before his tragic death

Meat Loaf said he had lost his ability to sing just months before he died due to medical reasons.

It was announced on Friday through a Facebook post that the music legend had died aged 74 following a music career spanning six decades.

But it seems he lost his iconic singing voice a few months before his death due to a medical procedure.

During a video where he pointed blame while talking about the Covid pandemic, he also revealed that he'd undergone an endoscopy which had damaged his singing.

At the time, the singer said: "I can’t really sing right now because I had anaesthesia today and I had a pipe shoved down my throat. Yes, an endoscopy this morning."

An endoscopy is a procedure where organs inside your body are looked at using an instrument called an endoscope.

An endoscope is a long, thin, flexible tube that has a light and camera at one end which shows images of the inside of your body on a television screen.

Meat Loaf's death was announced on Friday morning via Facebook in a statement that said he was surrounded by his close friends and family.

The statement read: "Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight surrounded by his wife Deborah, daughters Pearl and Amanda and close friends.

"His amazing career spanned 6 decades that saw him sell over 100 Million albums worldwide and star in over 65 movies, including 'Fight Club', 'Focus', 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' and 'Wayne’s World.'

"'Bat Out of Hell' remains one of the top 10 selling albums of all time.

"We know how much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all of the love and support as we move through this time of grief in losing such an inspiring artist and beautiful man."

They went on to thank his fans and for respecting his loved ones during the difficult time.

The statement finished with: "We thank you for your understanding of our need for privacy at this time.

"From his heart to your souls…don’t ever stop rocking!"

It was reported that Meat Loaf died following complications due to contracting coronavirus.

It wasn't known whether he was vaccinated or not before he passed away.

Sources have claimed to TMZ the Bat Out of Hell singer passed away on Thursday night after contracting the viral disease.

It's thought Meat Loaf's condition 'quickly became critical' before he died, having to cancel a scheduled event.

The family are yet to comment or confirm whether the star had Covid when he died or not.

Back in 2011 Meat Loaf fainted on stage during a performance in Pittsburgh which then went on to happen for a second time in 2016 while he was on stage.

This caused huge concerns for the popular singer's health but his 2016 collapse was thought to be down to dehydration.
