A charity on a mission to improve men’s mental health are quids in thanks to donations from an Ayr meal prep business.
Meta Fuel, run by Kevin Marcellino and Gabriel Lorimer, raised £250 for men’s mental health charity Release Ayrshire, after donating 20 per cent of the total price of each order throughout February and March.
Release are an online men’s support service who provide confidential support and advice to men who are down, in crisis or simply need to talk.
The meal prep firm, which provides nutritious dishes including pastas, soups, burgers and more, were eager to support a local charity in their endeavours and see the direct impact in the community.
And with the current cost of living crisis weighing heavy on many, Kevin and Gabriel said they couldn’t think of a better charity to raise funds for.
Kevin, who owns Carlinda’s Sandwich Bar on Ayr’s Main Street, said: “Being able to raise that money was great.
“The fact that it’s for a local charity makes it that much more special.
“It’s a grassroots charity so it’s having an immediate impact on the local community.
“And with it being men’s mental health, it’s something close to my heart- especially at this time of year when everybody is struggling financially, so mental health comes into that.”
Kevin and Gabriel set up Meta Fuel to encourage and support healthy lifestyles, including positive mental health.
Kevin said: “Our customers have seen the link between mental health and eating well.
“What drives me is supporting local business and trying to get people to use local businesses and see the services that we’ve got here, because in and around Ayrshire we’ve got some amazing businesses.”
Release said on their Facebook page: “We are delighted Meta Fuel have decided to work with us and thank you for their kind donations in 2023.
“We rely on these donations so much as a charity.”
