
Addressing the issue during the weekly press briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal dismissed the report as completely unfounded. “There is absolutely no basis to that report. No such meeting or visit took place,” he said, categorically denying Bloomberg’s claims.
The Bloomberg report, published earlier this week, had alleged that Doval met Rubio in September last year and conveyed that the Narendra Modi-led government was willing to wait out US President Donald Trump’s term if Washington continued public criticism of New Delhi. The report further claimed that Doval told Rubio that India would not be bullied by Trump or his senior aides.
