Amazing food and drinks, demos from chefs and walking tours are just some of the things on offer this St. Patrick's bank holiday weekend at the 'Me Auld Flower' festival.
We went to check it out and we were not disappointed. The festival is taking place in Smithfield in the old fruit and veg markets which is arguably one of the most historic buildings in Dublin.
The second we walked in we could feel the buzz of the atmosphere as swarms of people walked around taking it all in. With delicious food and drink and interesting demos taking place there really is something for everyone at this fun festival.
As soon as you walk in there are so many food and drink choices it's hard to know where to begin. I opted for an Irish style of croquettes from the The Salt Project. They were described as a 'Irish cheese and onion croquettes, winter truffle mayo and garden chive powder', and they were delicious.
They were piping hot and with salt and the mayo they were just the perfect Irish take on croquettes. Vegan coddle and an Irish cheese box were some of the other dishes on offer.
Most of the food available comes in small portions so you can try a bit of everything and with that in mind we went for seconds at another food truck.
We picked up a battered chorizo sausage which came with mayo and was bursting with flavour.
After this we definitely needed a sweet treat . We immediately headed for The Drunken Cookie stand. I got a kinder cookie and it was so sweet and just hit the spot perfectly.
The festival is also a perfect place to have a few drinks before hitting the town this weekend as there are numerous drink stands with spirts, beers and everything in between.
This is the perfect venue for a nice family day out or a fun evening with friends. Between the food and drinks stands there are some live cooking demonstrations on that certainly keep everyone entertained.
If you looking for something relaxing to do over the bank holiday weekend then we would highly recommend paying a visit to this fun food and drinks festival.
Tickets cost €22 and can be bought for the rest of the weekend here.
