For 100 years, McVitie's Milk Chocolate Digestives have provided the perfect accompaniment to a good cuppa, being a firm tea break favourite for generations.
Now fans are in for a new and delicious twist on the biscuit tin staple, following the launch of the beloved brand's new White Chocolate Digestives.
As of today (July 10), a pack of 15 White Chocolate Digestives can be snapped up at Sainsbury's stores for £1.89, making for the perfect cure for the Monday blues.
The sweet biscuits will soon be making their way to the aisles of various other UK supermarkets, including Co-op, Tesco, Asda, and Morrisons.
These "long-awaited" biscuits were launched to celebrate the 100th anniversary of McVitie's Milk Chocolate Digestives, joining the likes of Dark Chocolate, Double Chocolate, and Caramel.
Best of all, it's understood that this flavour is here to stay, as a permanent member of McVitie's collection of biscuits.
Aslı Özen Turhan, chief marketing officer at snack company pladis UK & Ireland said: "Our customers have been asking for White Chocolate Digestives for a while and we're excited to finally bring them to the shelves!
"Knowing how much people love white chocolate and having new sweet treats to try, we couldn't wait to make this highly anticipated addition to the Digestives family."
This news has left many white chocolate lovers thrilled to bits, and it's clear many have been hoping for this development for quite some time.
One delighted person tweeted: "My dream has come true…thank you McVitie's from the bottom of my heart."
Another applauded: "My new midnight snack".
A third person declared: "If these come in Tesco I'm taking the whole shelf."
These new snacks will have the exact same biscuit base McVitie's fans know and love, but with a white chocolate topping replacing the milk.
As per McVitie's, the name 'Digestive' refers to the sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) used to produce the biscuits. It was presumed at the time that this ingredient would help settle upset stomachs, although this likely isn't the case once it's been added to baked goods.
In 1925, McVitie's upped its game by releasing the now classic chocolate-covered digestive to the general public, who have been happily dunking them in their brews ever since.
