McDonald's puts up price of a cheeseburger for first time in 14 years

Fast-food empire McDonald's has written to customers to say it is having to raise some of its prices because of soaring inflation. Among the items going up is the cheeseburger which will increase from 99p to £1.19.

It said not all prices will rise, only those most impacted by inflation. Items will go up by between 10p and 20p it said in an email to customers.

The company said it had delayed any price impact and kept them to a minimum. But it said tough choices had to be made.
