McDonald's has revealed it is launching a new burger for January after fans begged for it to be introduced. The fast food chain is rolling out the new Double McPlant in all UK restaurants from Wednesday, January 4.
The announcement will no doubt be a huge hit with fans whether vegetarian, vegan, flexitarian or meat-eating, and those who are planning to try out plant-based for Veganuary. The new menu addition features not one but two Beyond Meat® patties, with a vegan sesame bun, mustard, ketchup, vegan sandwich sauce, fresh onion, pickles, lettuce, tomato and vegan cheese.
The McPlant took more than three years to develop, launching in September 2021. Since then, it has built up a huge fan base - but the next logical step for lovers of the juicy meat-free burger was for McDonald's to double it up.
One Twitter user said: “I know it’s 7am but when are McDonald's going to allow a Double McPlant?? All I want is the option to have two patties. this is the important stuff I need addressed.”
Another added: "I have said on many occasions that the McPlant has changed my life, but if there were to be a double McPlant? I can only imagine."
The Double McPlant will be available in UK and Ireland from next week, January 4, costing £4.89, or £6.49 for a meal.
