A McDonald's in a Nottinghamshire town will undergo a major revamp to help drive thru customers. Improvements to the fast food giant's branch on Kings Mill Road East, Sutton in Ashfield, including a 'fast forward' booth to serve customers faster, have been approved by Ashfield District Council.
Planning documents explained the chain will remove and replace large parts of the restaurant. Regular customers would notice some distinct differences if the plans are approved, with the existing entrance lobby replaced and two new access doors added.
The existing shop front and windows will also be removed and replaced, as well as some cladding and a wall. Drive thru booths would also be replaced as part of the renovation, with drivers set to benefit from a widened lane and new kerb lines.

Another new aspect would be the 'fast forward booth'. McDonald's has previously explained these new booths allow customers to pull forward to a third booth if there is a small delay in the order, rather than driving through the drive thru lane.
Nottinghamshire County Council highways said the "small scale nature" of the changes meant it was "unlikely to have an impact" on the highway network. Ashfield District Council officers concluded the plan would not have any negative impact on local residents, with them being a "considerable distance" away and granted planning permission on June 30.
