Fast food giant McDonald's has found itself in hot water over one of its new burgers. The Italian burger hit stores last week as part of McDonald's new summer menu.
The new menu features the Italian Stack, which is made up from two layers of 100% beef patties, mozzarella, onions, crispy onions, a rich tomato sauce, lettuce and a smooth cheese sauce all served within a freshly toasted tomato-and-basil flavoured bun. There is also a Crispy Chicken Italiano burger - a delicious crispy chicken fillet topped with a juicy tomato slice, mozzarella, a basil pesto style sauce, red onion and lettuce served up in a soft freshly toasted ciabatta style bun.
Some people rushed out to try the new burgers, with many saying they taste like 'lasagna'. Many fellow McDonald's customers have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on the Italian Stack and Crispy Chicken Italiano with some calling it "great", "yummy" and saying they are a "big fat yes". However, others were not so impressed with the new offerings as they pointed out a big 'flaw' with the new menu.

Outraged Maccies fans vented their frustration online that the McSpicy appears to have been taken off the menu, replaced by these. One person tweeted: "McDonald's please bring back the McSpicy. Took away one of life's joys." Another wrote: "McDonald's don't have the McSpicy anymore."
Someone else admitted they were "fuming" over the change, saying: "Why the hell have McDonald's stopped selling the McSpicy already when today is supposed to be the last day. Fuming." A fourth proclaimed: "McDonald's have no business removing the McSpicy and garlic cheese bites from the menu. That was the best combo I've ever tasted man."
"Beyond emotional finding out McDonald's have taken away the McSpicy," posted a different user. A sixth added: "Absolutely beyond devastated to discover the McSpicy has gone from McDonald's."
While an outraged customer asked: "WHO AUTHORISED MCDONALD'S TO STOP MAKING THE MCSPICY."
Replying to a tweet asking them to bring the McSpicy back, the official McDonald's UK account said: "Here at McDonald's we are always interested in customer suggestions and feedback. At the moment we don't have plans to reintroduce the McSpicy. However, I will pass your feedback on to the team."
Manchester Evening News has contacted McDonald's for further comment.
