McDonald's first permanent chicken burger in 15 years lands on menus today

Today marks a new era for McDonald's customers, as the global fast-food chain has officially debuted its first permanent chicken burger in 15 years.

The brand new "game-changing" McCrispy has landed on menus across the country from today, October 19, making it the first permanent chicken burger fixture since the grilled chicken burger in 2007, reports The Mirror. Described as the "crispiest, crunchiest burger out there", the new menu addition comes as McDonald's shook up its menu by axing another popular chicken burger to make way for five new additions.

And it sounds exactly like the burger that customers have been waiting for, as it has been made with a 100% chicken breast that is marinated in cayenne and black pepper. It is then topped with McDonald's classic mayonnaise with added cracked black pepper and a savoury roasted chicken flavour to give it a "fancy" and "umami" taste. The entire thing is then served in a 4" glazed bun with a sweet nutty toasted flavour.

Available for fans to try out from today, the new burger is priced at £6.49 as part of an Extra-Value meal, and it arrives after McDonald's previously trialled it at certain menus across the Midwest and Ireland as a "Crispy McFillet"

TV presenter Maya Jama has been announced as the face of the new burger, and will feature in an advert for it along with several other famous faces, including comedian Leigh Francis, rapper Michael Dapaah and girl-boss gamer Elz the Witch.

Speaking about the new chicken burger, Maya said: "I love a chicken burger, and am a self-confessed chicken connoisseur, so when I found out Maccie’s was launching this new burger, I knew I had to get involved."

The launch of the new burger comes just after McDonald's upset fans by announcing that they were axing the popular Chicken Legend in a new menu shake-up.

Many took to social media to express that the decision had left them "devastated" and "crying" - but there are hopes that the new McCrispy could satisfy their chicken loving needs.

If it is anything like the limited-edition Chicken Big Mac that was trialled earlier this year, then it is bound to grab a lot of attention, so you might want to be quick in grabbing one while you can.

McDonald's McCrispy Chicken Burger is officially available to order in-stores and via the MyMcDonald's App now.
