McDonald’s has revealed its Christmas advert for 2022 - and the message behind it will pull at your heartstrings after a tough year.
The 60-second clip, which is titled “The List”, features a boy called Alfie who gets carried away with writing his Christmas list.
As his list gets longer and longer, his mum is seen panicking and mentally ticking off her own to-do list ahead of the big day.
As both mum and son continue to get swept up in the anticipation, Alfie is left devastated when his list - now very long and full of presents - gets blown away in the wind.
The final scene sees the pair make an unexpected visit to McDonald’s on Christmas Eve, which reminds them that Christmas is really all about spending time together.
The advert features a cover of Yazoo’s Only You by pop legend Becky Hill - marking the second time the fast food chain has collaborated with the Lose Control singer.
McDonald’s will debut “The List” on TV during ITV ’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here on Sunday, November 13.
McDonald’s said its #ReindeerReady campaign this year is all about celebrating “the little things” after a year where household finances have been put under enormous strain.
The new advert comes after McDonald’s unveiled its new Christmas menu, featuring the return of the Big Tasty, Cheese Melt Dippers and the Festive Pie. Also returning to restaurants is the Celebrations McFlurry.
Michelle Graham-Clare, Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer said: “We know this Christmas isn’t going to be a normal one for many families across the UK and Ireland, so it’s more important than ever that we’re there to support our customers in their preparations to get Reindeer Ready.
“We’re proud to launch The Alternative Christmas List, which will provide many families across the UK with free, fun activities in the lead-up to the big day, but to also be supporting our charity partner BBC Children in Need with much-needed funds at a time when they need it most”.
Becky Hill added: “I am so pleased to be working with McDonald’s once again for this year’s Christmas campaign.
“This year in particular so many families and young people are struggling with the cost of living and I’m so glad that 10p from every download is donated directly to BBC Children in Need.
“It’s humbling to see the work that this fantastic charity does and I’m proud to play my part in supporting the young people it helps.”
