McDonald's has apologised to customers over a supply issue which has resulted in some of its menu items being modified. The fast-food chain is currently experiencing a tomato shortage which is impacting the famous Big Tasty and the Big Tasty with Bacon.
It means customers ordering the burgers will only get one slice of tomato rather than two. McDonald's has said it is "working hard" to resolve the issue which is impacting branches across the UK.
A McDonald's spokesperson told WalesOnline: "We are currently experiencing a shortage in our supply of tomatoes. As a result, the Big Tasty and the Big Tasty with Bacon are being served with one slice of tomato rather than two.

"We apologise for any inconvenience, and thank our customers for their patience. We are working hard to resolve this issue as quickly as possible."
The Big Tasty is made from 100% beef patty, Emmental cheese, onions, juicy tomatoes and a unique smoky flavoured sauce all nested in a freshly toasted bun. It returned to McDonald's alongside the Big Tasty with Bacon on Wednesday, March 16 for a limited time only.
It is a hugely popular product among customers, so much so that the fast-food chain recently launched a brand new flavour called the BBQ Big Tasty. You can read more about the new addition here.
It's not on the menu all year round, however, and often returns for short periods of time. Explaining the reason for this on their website, McDonald's state: "Unfortunately, though it's a customer favourite, we're unable to offer the Big Tasty all year round because of the limited capacity in our kitchens. If we offered it all year, we wouldn't have the space to grill the other promotional burgers which are also super popular. But always keep your eyes peeled, Big Tasty fans."
The Big Tasty is currently on the McDonald's menu alongside the Homestyle Crispy Chicken, Chilli Cheese Bites, Creme Egg McFlurry and the Cadbury Caramel McFlurry. For more what's on and shopping stories from WalesOnline, you can get our newsletter here.
