McDonald's boss ridiculed for 'McRule' note - but some agree with the manager

A McDonald's boss has been ridiculed online for posting a note about a new 'McRule' their staff had to follow - but some agreed with the manager.

Taking to Reddit, one person who saw the note snapped a picture of it and shared it on social media for others to enjoy the cringey title.

The rule in question revolved around employees using cups at work, saying they had to use a certain kind to keep costs down - and they shouldn't be used in some areas.

While people flocked to the page to laugh at the poorly chosen 'McRule' title, soon people were agreeing with manager - saying they had a good point.

The McRule posted in a McDonald's restaurant (Reddit)

What do you think about the McRule? Let us know in the comments...

The note reads: "It has always been the McRule that when your getting a drink while you are working that you get a 12 oz drink. You are supposed to drink it then throw away the cup.

"So let me explain why...

"1 - There should never be drinks sitting in service or grill area, it is a health code issue.

"2 - It should not look like a teenagers room around here with 32 half-empty cups - not only is it unsightly, they get spilled, and attract unwanted pests.

"3- It is a money issue. A 12-ounce paper cup costs three cents, and 16-ounce clear cup costs eight cents. Now let's think about the extra four ounces of soda or tea that is in that cup. It adds up to a lot of money!

"Please treat this privilege as if you were spending your own money. Some Mcdonald's only allow tap water, no soda or tea, so please be thankful for this.

"Starting 2/8/2022 - I do not want to see any clear cups being used from drinks unless they are part of break food. If you cannot follow this simple instruction I will require a manager to get a drink for you instead of just letting you punch in your own drink. If that does not stop it, we will go to tap water only.

"I hate to be this way but I feel some of you have severely abused this benefit.

"If any of you have a question about this please come talk to me and I would be more than happy to discuss it with you. Chris"

After the note was posted on Reddit, people began commenting in support of Chris' McRule.

One said: "If there's anything wrong with this, it's the attitude of the employees towards the rules and expectations that their job requires of them."

Then a second wrote: "A $0.05 difference in cost is an extra $18.25 per person over a year. Yes it adds up, but you're still making a killing on every drink that's actually sold, plus you should know these people don't give a s**t if they cost you money, otherwise they wouldn't be taking the free drink in the first place."

And a third added: "Using the plastic cup allows them to be refilled throughout the day and saves money in the long term. (Saying the employee gets ~3 drinks a shift)."

McDonald's have been approached for comment.
