A customer has said he feels 'let down' by a fast food restaurant after he found a piece of bacon in a vegan burger. The 37-year-old customer from Great Barr, who asked not to be named, said he attended the McDonald’s in Sutton Coldfield and ordered two McPlant burgers shortly after 11.30am on Wednesday, April 13.
As reported by Birmingham Live, the vegan diner who said he was with a client, received the burgers and started to eat them after ordering via the firm's app. After finishing the first one and biting into the second a piece of bacon fell out, which he only realised once he had finished the McPlant and looked down in horror at the strip of bacon.
A McPlant is a vegan burger made with a 'plant-based patty' that has been co-developed with Beyond Meat. It is certified by the Vegetarian Society as an ‘approved’ vegan product. But on this occasion, it came with bacon, he claimed.
