McDonald's apologises after some UK restaurants are hit by stock issues

A number of McDonald’s branches have been reportedly hit by stock issues - sparking fears that some items may be taken off the menu temporarily.

Posters have appeared at some of its restaurants across the UK as a precaution to warn customers. One poster, which was displayed in a London branch, said that some ingredients could be missing as a result.

It read: “Due to supply chain challenges, some menu items may be served with some ingredients missing and others may be temporarily unavailable.

“We apologise in advance to any customers impacted, and thank you for your patience.”

A similar sign was spotted in branches in Edinburgh and Cambridgeshire in recent weeks, according to the Mirror.

In a statement to our partner publication, the fast food chain did not confirm which items would be affected or if certain areas were being hit harder than others. It is also unclear as to whether or not any full items will be removed from the menu.

A spokesperson for McDonald’s said that it was “experiencing pressures” across its supply chain, which ‘may impact a small number of menu items’ at restaurants.

This isn't the first time McDonald's has been hit by supply chain issues this year. The fast food chain suffered a shortage of tomatoes at some of its restaurants back in April, forcing it to ration ingredients.

Its Big Tasty and Big Tasty with Bacon burgers were only served with one slice of tomato, instead of two, as a result.

McDonald's was also forced to pull its new Chicken Big Mac burger after it proved too popular with customers.

The Chicken Big Mac was pretty much the same as a regular Big Mac with the special sauce, but it has chicken patties instead of beef burgers. McDonald's had previously ran out of milkshakes in UK stores due to supply chain issues.

At the time, the UK was experiencing a shortage of lorry drivers. McDonald's also ran out of bottled drinks in some of their 1,250 locations.
