King Charles III confirmed the day of the funeral will be a bank holiday. The day of the funeral will be a Day of National Mourning and many places across the country will close as a mark of respect.
However, there is no legal requirement for employers to give staff the day off. This means it will be up to the discretion of the pub owners whether their establishment will stay open.
Buckingham Palace has confirmed it is the wish of the new King that the period of mourning will continue until seven days after the Queen's funeral.
