Ben McDermott, one of the stand-outs of the Big Bash League season, is going to showcase his big-hitting in England for county side Hampshire.

The 27-year-old Hobart Hurricanes star was the top run-scorer in the last BBL, amassing 577 at an average of 48.08 and became the first man to hit back-to-back tons in the league and the first to amass three centuries in all.

McDermott, who's featured in the current T20 series against Sri Lanka and scored his maiden international half-century in the opener in Sydney, will play in the English short format competition, the T20 Blast, for the Hampshire Hawks.

"I am really excited to join the Hawks for this summer's Blast," McDermott told Hampshire's official website.

"I'm looking forward to joining James Vince and the team at The Ageas Bowl and am hoping I can contribute to a successful T20 campaign."

Hampshire believe they're getting the best of wicketkeeper-batter McDermott, who's been involved in the international game since winning his first cap against UAE in October 2018 and has represented Australia in both T20Is and ODIs.
