MCA vice-president election on December 9

MUMBAI: The Mumbai Cricket Association will conduct the election for the post of vice-president on December 9. On Monday, the MCA's Electoral officer, JS Saharia, announced the timeline of the election, which will be held between 3-6 pm that day, with the result being declared on the same day.

The MCA had conducted its elections on October 20, but the post of Vice-president remained vacant as there were no contesting candidates for it.

Sanjay Naik, who was the MCA secretary in the last term, is likely to be elected as the vice-president this time. The other contesting candidates could be Apex Council members Jitendra Awhad and Milind Narvekar. Awhad was a cabinet minister in the Maharashtra government when MVA was in power, while Narvekar is PA to former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Navin Shetty is also a likely candidate.

The period of filing nominations for the post of Vice-President is between November 26-December 1. The final list of contesting candidates, after withdrawal, for the post will be announced on December 6.
