Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram has come to the defence of a prominent Liverpool building named in a list of the 'ugliest' in the UK.
Photography company ParrotPrint has published a list of what it claims are ten of the ugliest buildings across the UK
Parrot Print's list includes buildings all over the country including the Scottish Parliament building in Edinburgh, Belfast City Hospital, the Glasgow College Building and the Toast Rack building in the Fallowfield area of Manchester.
Also featuring in the Top 10 of the UK's allegedly ugliest buildings is Liverpool's Pier Head Ferry Terminal, which has recently been renamed the Gerry Marsden Ferry Terminal in honour of the late Merseybeat legend.

Featuring at Number 8 on the list, Parrot Print has this to say about the striking waterfront building: "Certainly a unique looking building, the striking ferry terminal stands as a modern symbol of the revival of the famed Liverpool docks. But the building itself is deemed by many as an eyesore along the waterfront with its dramatic, incongruous shape."
While the style of the terminal building divided opinion when opened in 2009, some may feel it is a bit harsh to brand it one of the country's ugliest buildings.
Liverpool City Region Mayor Steve Rotheram felt the rating was a bit harsh as well. Mayor Rotheram - whose Combined Authority owns the terminal building - recently formally renamed it after Gerry Marsden, who was a close friend.
Speaking about the building, Mayor Rotheram said: "While it might not be one of the seven wonders of the world, the Gerry Marsden Ferry Terminal has an important place in the hearts of the thousands of visitors who pass through its doors onto our iconic ferries every year.
"Compared with some of the buildings on the list - and some glaring omissions - it's something of an ugly duckling, but not a major carbuncle. And, in vein of the great man's song, ‘here it'll stay."
