Mayfield man charged over alleged social media threats to elected official

Mayfield Newcastle Local Court Police

A Mayfield man has been charged with allegedly posting a video to social media threatening a federal parliamentarian.

The Australian Federal Police was alerted to the threatening behaviour in June, after receiving a report of concerning content posted on a social media platform, including threats to harm a "high office holder".

The man is scheduled to appear in Newcastle Local Court on July 30.
