Maya Jama's Love Island result reaction 'overheard' by confused viewers as Kai and Sanam win

Maya Jama sparked some confusion amongst Love Island viewers and left many of them rewinding their TVs over something she said moments after the winners were announced on Monday night.

Championed by many ITV viewers for 'saving' the new series of the long-running dating show, having replaced Laura Whitmore following her exit last year, Maya had the job of crowning the latest champions in the live finale, with Kai and Sanam, Ron and Lana, Tom and Samie and Shaq and Tanya competing for the £50,000 prize.

Bookies had Kai and Sanam as the ones to beat in the hours and days leading up to the Love Island final and their odds proved to be spot on as, after the other two couples were voted out, Kai and Sanam beat Ron and Lana in the final vote. Pyrotechnics filled the air as Maya announced the winners, with Ron and Lana rushing in to celebrate with the winners.

Making sure that Ron and Lana didn't feel left out, Maya offered her congratulations to Ron and Lana for finishing second, but they gave her now attention as they hugged Kai and Sanam. Noticing that they were completely oblivious to what she saying, Maya was then overheard saying: "They don't care," but some viewers thought she said 'we don't care,' in a snub to the runners up.

Taking to Twitter believing that's what was said, one Love Island viewer remarked: "I just clocked Maya saying congratulation on runners up to Ron and Lana and following it up with "we don't care" Lol Maya is funny as hell." However, defending Maya and offering some clarification, another Twitter user replied: "I think she said they dont care cause they were just hugging and celebrating...I mean kai was literally swinging ron around."

Offering another take, a third fan responded: "She said we don’t care who won," with another tweeting: "I think she said “they don’t care”
