Maya Jama has shown that the love of partying and good vibes runs in the family after sharing a video of her mum cutting some shapes at St Pauls Carnival over the weekend. Thousands of people descended upon the St Pauls area of Bristol on Saturday (July 1) for the first Carnival since 2019.
One of the most anticipated dates in Bristol's cultural calendar, around 100,000 revellers celebrated the return of St Pauls Carnival as it marked two milestone anniversaries; 60 years since the Bristol Bus Boycott and 75 years since the HMT Empire Windrush arrived in Britain. This year's event paid tribute to the late Bristol Bus Boycott activist and carnival co-founder Roy Hackett MBE, who passed away in August last year.
Amongst those partying and soaking up the incredible energy exuding from the streets of St Pauls was Maya's mum, Sadie. Maya, who was born and raised in Bristol before moving to London as a teenager to follow her dreams, shared a dazzling video of Sadie, who is thought to be aged around 46, clearly having a great time, dancing around to the music in a camouflage co-ord.

Showing that the dance moves run in the family, the 28-year-old then posted a clip of her living it up at Roskilde Festival in Denmark. Serving utilitarian chic with an outfit that mimicked Sadie's Carnival look, Maya danced around as she held a can of beer on her head, the music blaring behind her as the crowd cheered.
Maya wore a khaki Supreme baseball cap on top of her wavy brown tresses, similar to her mum's hair, which swayed as she danced on what appeared to be a terrace, above revellers. "My mum at carnival this weekend lol... Me at the festival lol," Maya captioned the clips.
Maya has been here, there and everywhere recently. The star travelled to Denmark for the festival to see a friend perform, and is now thought to be back in the UK after joking about being in Houston, Texas.
The former Cotham School pupil, who made her debut as the new host of Love Island in January following Laura Whitmore's departure from the ITV2 show, has opened up about her close relationship with her mum in the past. During an interview with the Evening Standard, Maya reflected: "She had me at 18, so our relationship was a bit different.
"I rebelled less because I was quite free. My mum's always been like, 'I want you to have your experiences — just tell me, I'm not going to judge you or shout at you'."
Maya likes to party and often hosts glitzy bashes for her famous pals, and revealed that her mum also likes to let her hair down. "She's banned from my parties though," Maya said. "She gets too drunk."
