Maya Jama responds to concerned ITV Love Island fans after questioning her latest villa appearance

Maya Jama has responded to fans' questions after eagle-eyed Love Island viewers spotted something of concern during her latest appearance. The host of the hit ITV2 dating show looked sensational as she made her way into the South African villa during Thursday night's episode.

The presenter and radio star was on hand to navigate the latest recoupling which comes after the male and female islanders have spent nearly a week apart for the annual Casa Amor twist. Following a week of head-turning and loyalties being tested, it was time for the two villas to unite and for viewers to discover who would be staying together.

While viewers wanted to watch the fallout from Casa Amor, all eyes were on Maya as she dazzled red satin gown that boasted keyhole cutouts that gave a glimpse of her toned abs. The 28-year-old also flashed her toned pins in the eye-catching ensemble, also showing off her barely-there heels and styled her dark tresses in a half-up half-down style while styled into curls.

But as Maya navigated the dramatic proceedings, that saw Shaq Muhammad lost for words, Will Young in tears over Jessie Wynter and Olivia Hawkins lock horns with Kai Fagan, viewers were taking to social media to question a small scratch on her left shoulder.

@Michell12359867 tweeted: "@MayaJama, did you catch your shoulder with the hair straighteners!! #loveisland." @AviatorJoe94 also asked: "@MayaJama what happened to your shoulder? #loveisland." And Maya was quick to respond to one of the tweets.

She said: "I was shoulder dancing in a sparkly dress and it scratched at the Brits." It comes after Maya and former Love Island host Laura Whitmore clapped back at talk that they appeared to 'ignore' each other at The BRIT Awards 2023 over the weekend.

The Love Island presenters both took to Instagram following reports they didn't speak at the glitzy ceremony at The O2 Arena in London despite being seated on the same table. Laura, who is married to the ITV2 dating contest narrator Iain Stirling, took over hosting duties on the first winter edition of the popular show from the late Caroline Flack in January 2020.

Sharing the news of her decision to leave Love Island last summer after three series, the 37-year-old cited 'flying back and forth' between the UK and South Africa and 'new conflicting projects.' New host Maya took over the helm last month for the second winter series in South Africa.

Taking to Instagram Stories, Laura wrote: "I'm so sick of the media constabntly trying to run this narrarive with women," she wrote. "Imagine the audacity of also talking to other people at out table," she added. And she urged: "Stop trying to put wmen against each other and start celebrating women supporting women."

Posting a blowing kiss emoji she signed off by saying: "We had a great night @mayajama." And Maya shared Laura's message, agreeing: "Silly silly silly. I think very highly of @thewhitmore and think she's an angel. Maybe quote that instead." And she told Laura with a love heart: "Back at ya lovely."
