The May bank holiday is upon us and many supermarkets across Ireland have made changes to their usual opening hours.
Anyone looking to stock up for the long weekend or replenish supplies on bank holiday Monday is encouraged to check their local shop's operating hours in advance so they don't get caught out.
May bank holiday Monday falls on May 1 this year, meaning many stores will be operating with reduced hours.

However, the majority are not expected to close this coming Monday - but could be opening later than expected, or closing earlier than usual.

Dunnes Stores will be operating as normal on Saturday and Sunday, while many will follow their usual Sunday opening hours on bank holiday Monday.
For the most part, Dunnes Stores shops are open from 7am until 10pm Friday and Saturday, then on Sunday from 8am until 10pm and on Monday from 9am until 9pm.

Aldi
Aldi stores across Ireland operate their weekend hours on bank holidays. The usual opening hours for bank holiday weekends are:
Friday: 9am until 10pm
Saturday, Sunday and Monday: 9am until 9pm
Aldi also recently introduced autism-friendly hours for shoppers.
SuperValu
Each SuperValu will likely be operating as normal on Friday and Saturday, while implementing their usual Sunday hours on bank holiday Monday.
Generally, the shops are open from 8am to 10pm, however it varies depending on location so you can check out the official SuperValu website for your local store's opening hours.
Lidl
Lidl stores across Ireland operate Sunday hours on bank holidays. The usual opening hours for bank holiday weekends are:
Friday and Saturday: 8am until 10pm
Sunday and Monday: 9am until 9pm
Tesco
Tesco opening hours across the country are due to remain as normal on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with the majority implementing their usual Sunday hours on bank holiday Monday.

Marks and Spencer
